Diesel engines adaptation
Pure Plant Oil (PPO for its acronym in English) was used by Rudolf Diesel in his early prototypes of diesel engines. For conventional diesel engines, the viscosity of the PPO is a property that can cause long term damage to the engine. Transesterification is a possible solution to reduce the viscosity of PPO. Another solution which sounds technically easier is obtained by heating PPO before injecting into the diesel engines.
For stationary machines, equipment, agro industrial machinery and vehicles that run for long periods without interruption, the use of PPO shall turn out to be a cheaper option than biodiesel. It is also a technology suitable for power generation in remote areas; such as the FACT project (link to www.fact-fuels.org) in Garaló Mali (Link: http://www.fact-fuels.org/en/FACT_Projects/Mali).
